Lydia Laru is a UK-based musical artist, blending the sounds of R&B, Soul, Gospel and Afro-Fusion to create a unique musical experience that reflects her African heritage.

With the typical story of singing in church she makes sure her songs are uplifting but fun.

As a songwriter she's written her latest single about overcoming challenges in life where circumstances you cannot control tempt you to give up & throw in the towel. All in all the song is about overcoming evil with good & not letting evil corrupt you.

Her main influences are Lauryn Hill, Ciara, Mariah Carey, Aaliyah, Isabella Davis & Kim Walker.

She also runs a creator led community for women of colour called Social Butterfly, which was covered on BBC Radio MCR for their showcase for International Women's Day.
